TCF Canada Test Center in the United States
Alliance Française de San Diego offers the TCF Canada in person. Here are its details, what to check before you book, and how to find other approved centres in the US.
Can you take TCF Canada from the United States?
TCF Canada is administered by approved test centres — typically Alliance Française branches, French institutes and accredited language schools — under France Éducation international (FEI). Your results are used for Canadian immigration (IRCC) regardless of the country where you sit the test.
Which cities have a centre changes over time. We only list centres we have checked on their own official page — currently San Diego — and point you to the official directory for the rest, because an outdated address would cost you time and money.
How to find a centre near you
- Open the official FEI TCF Canada page and check the directory of approved centres.
- Search for the Alliance Française or French institute in your state or nearest large city, and ask whether it runs TCF Canada sessions.
- Email or phone the centre to confirm session dates, fee, registration deadline and accepted ID.
- If no centre is close, compare travel to the nearest approved city (in the US or Canada) with the dates you need.

Official TCF page & online registration
According to the centre's own page:
- The TCF Canada is required for anyone 16 or older who needs to prove their French level for Canadian immigration or citizenship.
- Sessions are in person only (no remote exam), with a maximum of 4 candidates per session; registration may close early.
- The exam lasts roughly 3 hours for the written parts plus about 15 minutes for the oral.
- Results are available about two weeks after the exam and are valid 2 years from the issue date.
- Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
We are an independent preparation platform and are not affiliated with the centre. Always confirm details with them before you book.
